Recover still not saved WORD or EXCEL file if windows crashed

I believe you may also have tried to input content with WORD or EXCEL, and suddenly the computer crashed or crashed. But what you hit was not stored in time.

It really hurts at this time. In fact, since MICROSOFT OFFICE 2003, there has been an automatic storage function. As long as your newly opened WORD or EXCEL has content, the software will automatically save it after a certain period of time. So if you didn't save it in time before it crashed or crashed, you can follow the steps below to try to rescue what you typed out with hard work.

Of course, La can not be saved, just give it a try.

1. First open My Computer, then go to ToolsFolder OptionsViewShow hidden files, folders and drives to open:

2. If you are using Windows XP, please navigate to
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Word

If you are using Windows vista or 7 or 8 or windows 10, please navigate to  C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word

PS:please replace the Username to your current used account name, if you logon account name is Peter, please rename the username to Peter

3. open and look for the file name such as xxx.asd, renames the extension name xxx.doc, and then you can recover the file which you just lost.

How about the file is Excel such as xls or xlsx?
The steps almost as same as above, you just need to find the related the folder.

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

Windows vista or 7 or 8 or windows 10:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel

look for the extension name look like XXXX.xar, and then rename the file name to XXXX.xls

If you encounter this issue, hope this article can help you solve the problem.
