I believe that many people will feel faster when using a newly bought computer or a computer after reinstalling the operating system, but after using it for a period of time, it will feel much slower.
In fact, this situation is mainly due to the fact that the system generates a lot of junk files during the use of the computer, and after installing many different software, the system will automatically start some unnecessary programs in the system's service items when booting.
So you will feel the system is getting slower and slower. But just use the following methods to improve the speed of your computer a lot:
1. Msconfig (System Settings)
The main function of Msconfig.exe is to automatically activate some programs when the system is turned on so that you can get a quick response when using its programs or software.
But sometimes some programs or software are not used frequently, so you can close some programs or software in the boot option to increase the boot speed.
- Go to start, search msconfig
- Then go to the startup item above, don't tick to select the program you don't want to start, and then click OK.
In addition, if you want to further improve your boot speed, you can follow the following practices (if your computer CPU is only a single core, you can ignore this step):
Also in the system settings screen, select boot-->advanced options-->tick to select the number of processors-->2 (if your computer CPU itself has 4 cores, you can choose 4)
2.Virtual memory (virtual memory)
The role of virtual memory is mainly when the physical memory is not enough or small, and you are using large software such as PHOTOSHOP, it will feel very slow.
At this moment, the virtual memory is mainly set to 1.5 times to 2 times of your physical memory.
This can effectively improve your fluency when using large-scale software.
Of course, if you have a large memory, such as 4GB and 8GB, you won't feel any big difference with this method.
When setting the size, your hard disk capacity will be used.
If you set 8GB, your computer's hard drive will be 8GB less for you to use, this should be noted.
- Go to my computer, right click the mouse and select the Property:
- Then, click Advanced System Settings, then go to Advanced and Settings:
- In the performance options, click Advanced, and then choose Change:
- First, do not choose TICK to automatically manage the size of the paging file of all disks, and then my method is to select C: set to no paging file, and D: set to a custom size.
For example. my computer has 4GB RAM, so I will set the initial size as 1024*4GB*1.5=6144, and the maximum value will be 6144*1.5=9216.
If you focus on the hard drive itself, then the capacity can be set to be the same as the initial size of the physical memory size of your body, and then to 1.5 times the maximum value of the physical memory of you.
Finally, select OK and restart the computer to complete the setting.
3. Visual effects
The affect of visual effects are just gorgeous make your computer screen some of it has nothing to do with the use.
This gorgeous screen is behind your system resources being used a lot, so turn off this function can also enhance the speed of your computer.

4. System Recovery
The main function of system restore is to be able to return to the normal state when the system has an error, so that your computer can solve the problem without reinstalling the operating system.
Please think about this feature before choosing whether to give up this feature to improve performance.
Because the system itself is enabled with this function, and when you install programs or system updates, a series of backup tasks will also be performed.
When an error occurs in the system due to unknown reasons, you can use this function to restore to the last normal state.
Of course, this function will slow down your computer and also take up some space for storage and backup.
So I turned off this setting.
If you want to set it, please follow the steps below:
The steps are similar to point 2 Virtual memory (virtual memory) and point 3 Visual effects (visual effects). In the system content, click System Protection, select C: or D:,
and then click Settings:
- Then choose to close the system protection, and then confirm.
5. Drive organization
The main function of disk drive arranging is to rearrange the chaotic disk space in an orderly manner so that the hard disk can effectively read files to increase the speed.
If your computer is still using a floppy hard disk, you can use this method to refresh your disk, but if you are using an SSD storage device, do not use this function.
Because this will reduce the service life of your SSD, this should be noted.
Proceed as follows:
Go to Start-->Accessory Applications-->System Tools-->Disk Defragment Tool, then select the sector you want to organize (e.g. C:), click Analyze Disk,
- After the analysis is finished, see if it is necessary to reorganize. If it is scattered and messy, you can click to reorganize the disk. It’s fine to wait for the tidying up slowly. It is recommended to tidy up when you leave the company or before going to bed because it may take a long time to tidy up.
- PS: Please note that if you are using SSD as storage, please do not do this action, because it may significantly shorten the life of the SSD.
